A few obvious recycling ideas. leaves stored for leafmould later Car tyres can be painted if you want and used in allotment or garden when filled with soil/compost to grow your courgettes in. Old tights/nylons store onions in or use to tie back certain plants. Old carpet (not nylon) cover ground as weed suppressor. Newspaper makes pots for seed sowing. Wrap round a former such as a drinks can and make a small paper pot. Can be planted whole when ready. Plastic/polystyrene drinks containers. Old lace curtains for g'house shading. Old bicycle wheels. Remove spokes and use the spokes for pegging down strawberry runners etc. The wheels can be cut in half to make two semi circular hoops and made into cloches with polythene or netting draped over. The 7" liver pots from butchers make good pots for growing exhibition daffodils in. Venetian blinds and butter containers cut up for labels. Old CDs as bird scarers in veg patch. Old chimney pots as plant containers. Old windows for cold frames Coffee jars/plastic pop bottles as mini propagators I use pop bottles in the tomato grobags to water and feed. Just stick into bag between plants and support with a couple of sticks and pour in what you use. They soak in nice & steady. An old saucer or plant saucer in base of hanging basket, acts as a water reservoir. the list goes on....

To add to Sweetpeas list, plastic spray bottles like window cleaner, de-icer etc give them a good wash out and a few pumps to clean the nozzle and use as a plant sprayer

Another thing we do is when the cats have shed a load of hair or been brushed is to put it out for the birds who use it for nesting material and it does get used.

Dylan's fur goes out in a peanut feeder every spring and is well used. I've used my old recycle bags and boxes as veg containers this year, also use the plastic boxes tomatoes come in, they make nice deep seed trays

I use mushroom trays/boxes as well for small scale seed sowing & the plastic lids off things like cottage cheese/cream/ice cream pots & tubs as saucers under small plant pots.

Don`t be to hasty in getting rid of an old washing machine or tumble dryer as the drum makes a really good fire pit .

Toilet roll centres are perfect for starting the likes of carrots and parsnips. They can also be adapted for use as paper pots.
