Would it be an idea to have a welcome section above the gardening section?
A locked thread welcoming new members and a brief outline of what the site is all about.
A 'hello' thread where new members can introduce themselves.
Ive been looking at the board statistics, there were 24 members logged in and 34 guests.
It must be quite daunting to put up your first post in the middle of a thread.

There's a strong possibility that some of the guest/hidden readers from the GN site will look in ..... if they see this as a good time to join they might use it. There again, they might just slide in slowly Sometimes announcing yourself as new is worse. When i go onto new forums i never ever use the Welcome section, far too conspicuous ....... i always prefer to slide in quietly. |
