Over the years I've seen sports from more than a few plants but this is the first time I've had a Coleus sport. Must remember to take a pic. Hopefully I'll be able to grow it on and see what happens.

They both have very attractive foliage. I hope you can grow them on.

The original is City of Sunderland, the sport looks very similar to Angel of the North both of which I grow.

That's interesting, I didn't know Coleus had named varieties. I've only ever seen the mixed seed packs which I grow every year and have no success at all in overwintering them.

Take cuttings and protect them over-winter.

Thanks sweetpea it was interesting to discover that there are so many different types of Coleus. They were very pretty too.

Take cuttings and protect them over-winter. Hi there Dai. Low light levels also have an adverse effect when over wintering but if you get them through without too much leaf loss they do pick up well.

Quite a few leaves dropping from the coleus now, combination of cold and low light so I bunged them all in together in the large plastic container on the heat mat with a little water on the base and although they are rather crowded they seem to be ok so far. Decided to keep the lid off as the condensation was dripping on the plants.

The ones I was hoping to keep have died. I think I should have repotted them, maybe ?

Not looking terrific but if they come through the winter they will pick up and I should be able to take some cuttings.

Bit of a disaster the other day or rather night. For some reason the circuit breaker tripped and the heat pad got turned off and this was possibly the coldest night so far. Lost most of the plants but I think a couple have survived but time will tell. Worse things happening in the world so not a big deal as I can always get some more next year.

Sorry to hear that sweetpea, maybe you had a power cut. We've had two here recently, just a few minutes each but my electric clock had to be reset each time.

decided to scrap the coleus as all dead or a very good impression of being dead. Will restock in the spring. Tomatoes all finished too.
