Hi there ladybird . I won't be putting the polytunnel up; it's too big and would dominate the garden. It's in pieces in my garage. Anyone want a polytunnel ? As for the pictures: I used photoshop. I googled images of 'lawn', 'soil', 'welsh onions', 'chillis' and 'tomatoes', and copy/pasted them into my garden pictures. Then I used the stretch/skew/perspective features - along with masking - to blend the grass etc over my existing garden Who's a clever roofgardener, then [/quote] That is clever Roofy, I don't have photo shop but I might have a go with page plus its very versatile. sorry to hear about the poly tunnel , I`m sure you`ll miss it. do get one of those 4/5 tier plastic covered shelving greenhouses though, I think they are excellent for the price .

Roofus, isn`t there a rear garden? Hi there daitheplant, Umm.. that IS the rear garden. I don't have a front garden; there is a covered porch area where the wheelybins are stored, but then its the road Well, I SAY road... it's pretty much the end of a cul-de-sac

Well, I set up my trail camera a few days ago, pointing (I thought) at my bird table. Got some video of blackbirds, robins and starlings. Sadly, I didn't set it up properly; it could see my neighbours door, so it got triggering whenever they came outside ... resulting in megabytes of blank recordings. DOH !
I'll reposition it tonight !

A New Beginning - the Start Small, baby steps. I've just mowed the bulk of the lawn, and made a start on weeding the border. And I've planted some ONIONS. I'm hoping to plant many more (and extend the weeded area) this Easter Weekend | (Click for larger onions) |
I also have a Big Plan on what to do with one of my (dismantled) workbenches.. more of that soon So.. some spadework ahead of me.. but I'm really looking forwards to it !

Well, I had a very productive Easter Bank Holiday. I managed to re-assemble one of my old polytunnel workbenches, and I've put it in my garden as a potting table

Hi roofgardener, congratulations on your new garden. It looks like it faces south so you'll have lots of sunshine. I like your plans, it's nice for you to have your own place where you can do what you want. Great idea to have a potting bench. I hope we get plenty of sunny weather for you to get on.
The bachelor's buttons shrub is Keria japonica, and the second one is Forsythia.

The bachelor's buttons shrub is Keria japonica, and the second one is Forsythia. Oooooh right - thanks for that Eli Yes; it is brilliant to have total control of the garden. And its south-facing orientation means that most of the garden gets sun at SOME point during the day, even in April. And the house wall (where my potting table is) gets it MOST of the day, as does most of the border. Happy days

Well folks, I must apologise for the huge hiatus. Also the dissapearance of all my pictures, going back to 2016 !!! I lost my job ,but found a new one !!! SAdly, I used my work servers to host Roofgardener.org.uk, and lost access to it when I lost my job. I've got backup copies of most of the photographs, BUT... I can't get control back of the domain (yet), so I can't make them appear in Garden Friends (they are hard-coded in each individual post as being 'www.roofgardener.org.uk/gardening/....') Unless the kind forum hosting company could do some sort of gigantic 'search and replace' across the database to change all reference to 'www.roofgardener.org.uk/...' to 'www.roofgardener.org/...' ? I'll get it sorted out eventually

That's a shame roofgardener, I'd just been wondering if you were O.K. as you hadn't posted for a while, pleased to hear you got a new job. No idea if anyone can retrieve your photos on here but I doubt it, lots of other photos have disappeared in the past when the hosts people have used to post them from have either gone bust or started charging for storage, I just use the 'add image to post' button & download straight from my computer to here.

Sorry to hear you lost your job but good news that you now have another one. Shame about the photos, I do the same as SueA to load pictures here

Congratulations on your new job roofgardener. I do the same as SueA and grindle for adding photos to the forum now. I used to use a thing called Tinypic (or something) but I think it changed and I wasn't able to use it any more. All the photos I'd put on here using it disappeared but I had them stored on my computer so I didn't lose them.

Yaaaaaay - I've regained controls of 'roofgardener.org.uk', though all the old photo's have gone. However, I made a back up of MOST of them, and they are being restored back into the posts as I speak. I lost all of 2021, and most of 2020, but most of the earlier ones are slowly coming back
