Can some one tell me whether I can grow anything in between or down the middle of runner beans ?

I grow sunflowers but I suspect you mean other veg.
I would have thought you could grow a quick crop like lettuce in the middle, if it was a fast growing type it would be ready before the beans blocked out too much light.

Runners don't take up much room but you could use single canes at an angle. On the shaded side you could leave space to pick them. On the other side you could plant close to the beans. Well that's what I've done as I'm short of space.

i grow sweetpeas with mine, flowers and beans Good idea as it helps stop you sowing beans too close. Someone told me not to sow so many as they'll only go to seed and stop new ones.
