Thank you for letting us know on the forum Steve. Jim was a big part of our gardening lives and was able to give lessons on the forum on the growing of sweet peas from when to plant the seeds to the showbench. He was very knowledgeable on all aspects of gardening. We will miss him.

Sorry to hear Jim has passed away! I believe it was his birthday just a few days ago. I didn't know him but he sounds like a very likeable guy! My condolences to his family.

Jim was one of the founding members of the original Garden News forum many years ago, when I joined it the only other two people posting on it were Steve & Jim (Sweetpea even then) & from the very beginning he was a character. An ex marine he had a cheeky sense of humour & was very 'straight-talking' but good hearted. He was an animal lover & could actually charm the birds out of the trees in his garden having posted photos of some eating out of his hand! He was always willing to offer advice & will be missed, condolences to his family & friends.
