Yesterday we had a tree planting ceremony in the gardens of my church! We planted a Rowan or Mountain Ash tree! This was a part of our service to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee. Here are a few pictures I took:

Good choice balc2. It will keep the witches away. There always seemed to be one tree left outside derelict cottages in mountain areas in Scotland and that was a Rowan.

wonderful tree and a superb choice. I was in Newark yesterday and in the Castle grounds the tulip tree, Liriodendron tulipifera was in flower. The plaque said it was planted at the Queen's coronation.

I had no say in the election of the tree nor anything to do with the planting, I just stood by & watched & took some photos & made a very short video. As I wasn't sure whether or not it had been watered the next day I went over (I live less than 2 mins walk away!) with a 5lt bottle of water & watered it. At least now I can rest knowing it has been watered!
