My kale looked beautiful and I picked some for son, but the underside of every leaf has cream coloured tiny eggs in clusters. I can’t use a spray, because we eat these, so what are they and how do I get rid of them? I am a bit suspicious about the white butterflies hanging about this area. I have never grown kale before.

The tiny eggs probably are cabbage white butterfly eggs Cherry, the only thing I can suggest is blast them off with water from a hosepipe & cover the plants with very fine netting to stop the butterflies getting on the leaves & laying any more on them.

Thank you SueA. The trouble is the eggs are already laid on the undersides of the leaves, so I don't know if a net would do any good now. Oh well, I’m still learning.

I agree, just wash the eggs off.

They will 'rub' off with your fingers prior to cooking. And to be honest they wont hurt you if the odd one gets eaten. On boiling they tend to fall off the leaf anyway.

Thankyou for the advice. It looks beautiful and I have got some washed for cooking, but I may not grow it again. It is a very pretty crop.
