When we were at Peterborough hospital I noticed there were many trees with their autumn colours so I took a few pictures:
I would have liked to have taken more photos & closer up but as we were waiting for a taxi to take us to our lodging for the night I couldn't leave my wife - nor could I drag her around with me!

How many of you have seen Daffodils flowering this week in your towns? What, in November? I hear you say! Well there is a park close to where I live that DOES have Daffs in flower - in the ground! What proof? Have a look at these photos I took this morning:
Even in the gardens of the church I go to there is a clump of Daffs that I planted at least 6 years ago that have buds as well, though they have probably opened by now.

They are early balc2, the ones in the park in your photos look like 'Paperwhite' narcissus which are normally grown indoors as they're not hardy so I'd be interested to know if they survive the frosts, but perhaps they've been planted out to provide colour now & will be replaced with something else when they start to go over?

Today one flower has opened on the daffodils at the back of Trinity Free Church building! I took a look back at other years where I have photos of these plants & I've found photos going all the way back to 2020!

Like SueA I also think they are Paperwhites. They're usually grown indoors and flower very early. I've had them flowering before Christmas is the house, but November is early for them. They cheer the place up.

balc2 the daffodils in your photos are really gorgeous. I had to check the date on the pics. grindle that Acer is worth the wait every year. It made me realise that my garden is hugely overcrowded, but the garden is new, so I am resigned to taking out shrubs which outgrow their space later on.

I believe you are right, SueA I did a search for 'Paperwhite Narcissus' & the pictures I saw certainly look like these!

SueA If the bulbs behind Trinity Free Church are the 'Paperwhite Narcissus' then they are frost resistant because they have been there 6 or 7 years. I have taken photos of them flowering from November to January over the course of the last 3 years!

thanks you Cherry My garden is pretty overcrowded with the shrubs and trees, I'm hoping to get some of them pruned back in the new year, I'd very much like to make room for a Halesia Carolina but whether that is going to be possible I'm not sure

I have taken photos of them flowering from November to January over the course of the last 3 years! They are doing well then, they probably get some shelter from the wall which helps them survive the worst of the weather, they're a very cheery sight at this time of year!
