It's hardy down to zero C or just below grindle. I left one out all winter a number of years ago and it died, so I bring this one into shelter now just to be on the safe side. The temperature in my greenhouse must have been below freezing several nights this winter but it's surviving in there. It would not have survived the two big freezes we've had this December and January if it was outside. It is in a big tub so I have to slide it along slowly, and make sure it isn't too far from the greenhouse so that I can easily slide it back in next winter.

Maybe you could get something similar as an alternative grindle

I'll have to scout around and see what I can find Eli just a couple of photos, not much around, plenty of new growth and buds, the Hamemalis isn't exactly a spectacular one, with quite small flowers this is the only Hellebore in flower at the moment, most are still in bud

Is that Hamamelis intermedia 'Diane' grindle? I used to have that at our old house, it was very pretty & lovely colour but not as spectacular as some of the others.

I'm not sure which one it is, but I'm sure it's not Diane, it's quite red and very small flowers compared to others, I used to have Jelena which was a beauty but sadly it died
