Why do I get the impression that this superb gardening site is coming to an end? I am SO sad.

There seems to be very few members using it now, but it might be the time of year, there's not much one can write about the garden in January. I belong to two other garden sites and they both feel half dead on times.

I also think that the time of year doesnt help like Hywel says. Also social media and smart phones have led to the increased number of other platforms.

I'm also finding this forum is having less members post on a regular basis. Perhaps we need more subjects to talk about other than our principal interest in growing plants! That way people could still log in & comment even if they have little or anything to say about gardening! As I garden on a balcony there is even less to talk about than you who have proper gardens!

Don’t be sad daitheplant. Be happy that we oldies are still enjoying the advice and chat. I miss those of us who have died with their gardening boots on - Froglady, Lou, Sweetpea and Terry and we have offered support to Eli when he needed it. We come from all over the UK, although at times we have enjoyed posts from other countries. Spring is coming and we will all feel better. Maybe I did not sound very cheerful, but let’s keep our forum going.

this is more like a chat with friends of long standing most of us have been together for such a long time, I would miss it if it disappeared, which I really don't think it will

Interesting comment balc2, and we would like to get to know you better, so open up a subject. We used to recommend books, photo competitions (not too seriously). Now, at my great old age, I go to charity shops and ask for book recommendations, not because I am clever, but because I have read so many over the years.

Anyone can start a chat on any subject in the 'non gardening' chat section. The only problem is if they don't get posted in regularly they disappear down the pages & get forgotten.

Would help if I did not have to log in every time I visit.

Would help if I did not have to log in every time I visit. That may be something that deters some people but if you have a password manager it shouldn't take you more than a moment to log in.
Logins also help to keep people who might want to use the site for spam messages or link to "unsavoury sites" . I've been a member of many sites over the years & have always had to login to post, though one can visit them but not add anything.

Since I've been a member I've started several new threads. Though, truth be told, I haven't started any in the "non-gardening" section, I don't think!
