Welcome to the forums jono. As you are now retired, you will have lots of quality time for your garden. Don't let those dahlia enthusiasts scare you.

Welcome Jono. I envy you being retired, and having more time for the garden. I've only got an asphalt roofgarden, so I have to do everything in pots, and plastic 'tent' greenhouses.
I'm not part of the Dahlia brigade, as I focus on edible vegetables and

Oh well... welcome aboard. We get Red Cross parcels on alternate Teusday. Mostly food, tobaco and alcohol, I'm afraid. We keep trying to slip a message out asking for compost and seed stock instead, but thus far no luck.
Please check with the Escape Committee before digging any tunnels. We don't want a repitition of the 2012 Great Potato Patch Collapse.
Care for a baseball ? No ? OK.. each to their own.

Brilliant welcome thank you. A roof garden sounds a good idea on for the garage ? First time for me with dahlias After reading so much about them they now sound scary ? But thanks again for the great welcome

Hallo jono, worry not, we're not all crazy, but it helps! We do grow other plants apart from Dahlias, so please don't think GF is only about them, lovely though they are.

Hi, My name is Cat and I am in Cornwall, UK. I have 2 garden areas with south East/North West aspect, both on a gentle slope. New to me in 2011 previously empty and overgrown I have a mixture of shade and full sun beds, currently growing perennials, vegetables and a few semi dwarf fruit trees. This year 2015 I am focusing on creating my first Dahlia bed and installing a greenhouse and new larger shed. All help is gratefully received

TWO sheds ? Gosh.. that is POSH ! Welcome, Cat; great to have you here.
I'm pleased to hear that you grow vegetables. I'm relatively new to gardening, and tend to focus on edibles. What vegetables do you grow ?
