My agapanthus is showing no signs of life, so I tipped it out of the pot to check and the roots are just fine. Should I split it and repot or do you think it has succumbed to the devastating freezing winds in my garden. What stage are yours at just now?

Cherry, if the root system is healthy then repot it and put it somewhere out of the freezing conditions.

Thanks daitheplant I did that, so it has had the chance and if it is ok, I will have two really large pots. It is 4 years old now, and looked good last year, but the freezing wind here is relentless. The wind has never been mentioned in climate change conversations, but I have never know such windy conditions.

I've got a couple of pots of agapanthus which are showing no signs of life yet Cherry but I think it's still early. I'm just leaving mine for now to see what happens, they're in pots outside the garage window.

I don't have any Agapanthus but in the shops car park alongside us the council gardeners planted some Agapanthus many years ago they grow & flower very year. I've seen no sign yet of them this year but then I've never really taken note of when they start to grow, so it may be early this year yet.

I'd wait a bit longer Cherry, if the root is all right it will probably grow back later. Mine has still to show any signs of growth but the base is solid so I think it will be all right.

Mine are just starting to put their noses out of the soil. One isn't doing anything but it wasn't a happy one last year so that have been lost.

I got rid of the Agapanthus on Thursday. I just wasn’t sure. I have put up some pots with beautiful double orange Hemerocallis to take their place. These looked good last year, so they are in ‘front of house’ now.
