I am impressed by Geranium ‘Woodside’ which knits my spotty garden together with a few plantings at intervals along the border. It is about 10 inches high, so does not take over. Fresh flowers will bloom as soon as the sun shines.

I use nigella as the thread to knit one border together, lovely annual that self seeds so I just remove what I dont want.
I also have a pretty pink phlox that does similar in the mid late summer in a different border.

That is the kind of tip I am looking for seaburn. I have a Euphorbia which quietly gets on with its moderate show. It is always green, with lovely lime green bracts, but I would not plant more than one clump as it is a bit of a thug. I pull a lot of it out. Nice to have though.
