Yesterday I took a detour when going for Bella's food, and I drove along some local country lanes. I saw some wild flowers :-
Big clumps of Marsh Marigold, Caltha palustris :-
There were many lovely Dandelions, Taraxacum :-
And nice big patches of delicately coloured Lady's Smock, Cardamine pratensis :-
The lovely Primrose, Primula vulgaris, was in all the hedgerows :-
Lots more species hadn't opened properly, so I'll be going again soon, to see them when they're flowering.
And about 5 miles from my village is Carreg Cennen Castle (which I think is creepy so I usually drive past it, but yesterday I took some photos from different viewpoints :-

I've looked up the castle and it's history is typical medieval but with the added yo-yo-ing of English taking it then Wales taking it back etc. Apparently human activity has been at this site pre Roman. Fascinating stiff,
love the wild flowers too. Great read on a pretty sunny afternoon. Just having a cuppa in between prepping evening and repotting echinacea.

Glad to hear you had a good drive, Eli! The wild flowers always look so nice! I love to see them but there are very few hedgerows left any longer! 😕

Beautiful photos Eli. A lot of people would not notice these beautiful wildflowers.

Oh Eli thank you for taking us along with you, what a lovely trip out !! I too just had to Google the creepy castle, very interesting. I'm like you and always look out for and enjoy spotting the wild flowers, it's so nice to see flowers growing naturally and where they want to grow not where we plant them in pots and borders.

It's lovely to see wild flowers in bloom Eli, and such a lovely view of the countryside too. It's difficult to remember sometimes, but even for those of us who live in large towns and cities the countryside isn't really that far away from our doorsteps if we venture out to see it.

Is there a thread on wild flowers ? I can't find one if there is.
Here are some I saw yesterday ...
Cowslips / Primula veris :- (there were hundreds of them this year)
A type of Vetch but I haven't looked the actual species up yet :-
Bluebells / Hyacinthoides non-scripta :- (but not a good photo)
Arum maculatum :-
Comfrey / Symphytum officinale :-
Marsh Marigold / Caltha palustris :-
A small Saxifrage but the flowers have finished now, they're very small and green and were there last week ... :-
And another view of the creepy Castell Carren Cennen :-

You should be able to create a new thread for wild flowers, you don't need to be staff to do so.
Aren't some of our wild flowers beautiful?

Good idea, Eli just changing the name of the thread! 👏 I can't seem to find how to put photos in my posts from my mobile phone or I'd add a couple. I'll have to do it from my desktop computer.
