Hi all !
First time grower here. Thought id try my hand at silverskin onions . I got them to grow into little shoots but they have gone all droopy and some of the tips of the shoots are brownish .
Is this right ?
They are still in the trays as they dont seem big enough to plant yet , i take them outside for sunshine now and again

Welcome torturedsole, I've not tried growing onions from seed but I do grow them from sets. I think the main problem is that you were probably too late sowing them as they should be in the ground by now. You need to put them outside & let them get some light & fresh air & if you plant them out when they've put on a bit more growth you might get some onions just a bit late in the season. Silverskin onions are only small anyway so you should get some worth using.

torturedsole I grew onions from seed once when I had an allotment. You need to sow the seeds around Christmas time to get decent onions later the following year. I did get lots of onions but it is a lot of work! After that time I only bought onion sets; small bulbs that grow into big onions without all the hard work of growing them from seed. As SueA says get them out into the open where they can grow strong. They should've been in the ground a long time ago! But you may still get some usable onions before the frosts come around. Best of luck with them!
