My son got me these Pansies when I asked him to get me 2 trays of them. I had expected him to get me 2 trays of Pansies that had 24 small plants in each tray. The week or so before he had got me 2 of these when I was expecting trays of just 6 plants like the ones seen here.
I put 1 plant in each of the earthenware pots on the balcony railings. As I only have 12 pots I wondered what I could do with the other 6 plants. Then it occurred to me that I could put them in the 2 half pots I have. The problem was I only had 2 when I really needed 3! Then I found another pot but it wasn't like the others but it was still low enough &, though it is glazed, it served the same purpose.
When I finished potting them up I put them in front of the balcony door & that way we can see them through the balcony door without having to go into the cold! As luck would have it I planted the 2 trays of yellow & purple Pansies in the pots on the railings. As I potted them up I didn't look at the labels on the trays. So all the pots on the railings have identical colours. The pots on the floor are all violet & white.

it's nice to have something pretty to look at this time of year, even if it's just through the window

I removed the pots of Tradescantia zebrina from off the fridge in the kitchen a few days ago. It wasn't my intention at first to throw them away, I just wanted to remove some of the dead stems so as to make the plants a little more attractive. But the problem with this plant is that the stems die back from soil level but the stems still continue as if they were still connected to the roots in the pots when really they have been slowly drying up for weeks! I can pull out stems a couple of feet long that seem to be healthy but 1/2 or 3/4 of the stem is dried up but the the 1/4 remaining shows no sign of dying! I even use these tips as cuttings & they root perfectly in just a few days!
This 1st photo is how they looked (there were 6 pots!) at the beginning of November - you wouldn't think that behind all that living foliage there are actually few stems that haven't started to die back weeks before!
The next photo should be by rights the lst of the 3 but i uploaded them a the same time & they didn't come in the right order. I put the Bacopa up there as well as being a trailing plant, (& with flowers!), I thought it would cheer up the side of the fridge until the Tradescantias cover the side again.
This is a pot of cuttings, without roots yet, that I salvaged from the plants I threw away. They will soon root & grow like the other pots.
This should have been the 1st picture!

I see that with mine too balc2 and I've only got cuttings in pots now. They've probably rooted by now. Nice to see a Bacopa indoors, I may try that next year

Thanks, Eli. The Bacopa appears to be struggling with being indoors. It got very dry and all the flowers died and even many of the leaves went black and died 😢. When I realised it was so bad I watered it & it recovered somewhat but no new flowers have opened. The poor thing is not looking happy at all 😢. I'll post an update in a few days time.
