The daffodils planted in the parkland in front of my house have been looking beautiful this week but unfortunately their flowering has coincided with Mother's Day. Folk have been picking them by the armful today, even driving up in their cars, bold as brass and helping themselves to free daffs, presumably to give to their mum's or even to sell to others, who knows? What I do know is that these folk were nowhere to be seen when we were wanting volunteers to help plant them! That is the end of our display for this year So much for the Big Society!!!

That's dreadful, Cowslip! How mean of them, too. I wonder what the 'Mums' would think of stolen flowers from their offspring!

You think that is bad. I remember a case of someone nicking the flowers from graves as soon as the funeral party had left. This was at Blackshaw road practically opposite St Gearges hospital so presumably they were being taken in to patients.
I can understand very young children who don't know any better but anyone else is a vandal IMHO.

We had a lovely dep red rose bush in the front garden at the old house, when it first came in to flower it looked stunning (Friday) by Saturday morning the lovely flower had gone. No doubt some drunkerd had nicked it for his missis .

That's awful, Cowslip, i'd be furious Write a piece for your local newspaper explaining what's happened and include a part that says the volunteers didn't plant them for commoners to pick and that you'll publish the photos of the culprits picking them at a later date ;D

I agree. Just use the opening paragraph of this topic and send it to the paper like Louise said.
