You can buy something called 'Root out', it is a crystal root killer. Cut the ash sapling as low to the ground as you can, place some 'Root out' on to the stump and cover it with some plastic. This will kill the root. If it is in a crack in the concrete you will never pull it out and as others have said, if you just cut it back it will keep shooting.

Sorry floydie, I don't recognise it but I would dig it up now before it becomes a problem. You could always pot it up just in case it is 'a something'.

OK will do. I didn't get the tree out (Neither did OH : it had to be sawed down. The elder in the back garden came out so did the flowering current. The Elder in the front and the sapling were stuck in between concrete slabs so they have been chopped back (To be dug out at a later date).

No - they're Aquilegia (Columbines). They may well be self-sown, so don't be surprised if the flowers are purple or pink, but they're pretty.

Yes, the tree sapling I agree is Common Ash (Fraxinus excelsior). As the seed takes two years to germinate, it may well have come in on the rootball/pot of another plant if no parent tree nearby.
Elderberry first and second pic which will have been deposited by bird poo :-)

....and the Salix (correctly id'd the genus) is almost certainly Salix caprea (Goat Willow or Pussy Willow). The seed can blow for miles and miles and miles.....
