We have a long boundary beside the burn (65m) and apparently the electricity board took out all the hedges that grew there to do some work and i want to replace it but it has to be beneficial for wildlife.
I have bought 50 hawthorns which will go in (i love Hawthorn) and i thought about Rosa Rugosa but i really want it to be kind of mixed.
What other plants do you think would work there?

Guilder Rose, Willow and Maple, all respond well to being kept as a hedge and are excellent for wildlife. Cherry already mentioned Hazel (I have a few saplings I could send your way).

I will save them for you. I seem to have a lot popping up this year, I'm afraid I have binned quite a few Thanks so much ;D We got the hawthorn planted yesterday and trimmed about 1/3 of the stems to make them branch. The soil looked pretty good and it's right next to the burn so will not go short of water ;D
