What do you put in the fridge (often) only to have it jump out at you weeks later and hurl itself into the bin?
Celery - that's mine!
I love celery, it takes more calories to metabolise it than it contains (so I'm told) yet without fail I put firm, crisp celery into the fridge only to have to witness the pathetic sight of the limp, lifeless bunch of floppiness crawl to the bin and fall in.
What's yours?

cucumbers never eat the whole one before it goes mushy, or if the fridge is so full and gets too cold it freezes and goes mushy

Old sprouts - we can't eat a whole pack before they go yellow and nasty!

We stopped buying lots of fresh produce for this reason, nothing really gets wasted anymore as we only buy fresh products a we use them, but hahum potatos never get eaten before they start to grow.......
Spike Spiegel..."That's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge."

we are lucky to have anything in the fridge for more than a day or so what with two of my boys cramming their gobs at every opportunity The spuds that we buy very often start growing and end up in the waste food bin, not many but now and then.

An amusing topic, interesting how we all tend to do it yet with so many different stuff. I fear that while we (pre/post war babies still abhor waste especially food, we can remember having little to waste, the following generations worry to much about 'sell by dates' and just don't do the sums. All may change in the future though ;D
