I've been looking everywhere for a yellow bell shaped Clem. I think they call it 'alpina' Sadly they're rare this year. I wonder if they are hardy as I'm told that the weather has wiped them all out. Also is it me or are the prices high this year?

I don't think there is a yellow variety Merlin, where/what is your reference ? They're mostly mauve or white. The yellow bell shaped ones are, as Grindle says, the Tangutica variety. As for someone telling you the weather's wiped them out - i think someone's bluffing. Looking at a clematis website such as Clematis on the Web is a useful reference to have in your favourites bar. www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/hiviz-clemalphasearch.cfm

Thank you all for searching, there are some beauties though not many yellow ones, I like the Tangutica. Well done for finding 'Love Child' Geranium, it's just the ticket, pity it's out of stock but I'll contact them. It's Penny's idea, she wants it to intertwine with this blue one that's in flower now in a Lilac tree.

Had a nice reply from 'Taylors' saying they'll let me know. They're up in Doncaster.
