Remember that frost damage and having withstood minus 12 etc means stress at the roots.

Our dry couple of months will have its roots in turmoil.
Drought is the cause of some things dying back at the moment and it has applied to one of my Ugni's.

I thought i'd lost it but when i scratched the stems and bark it was green in 80% of the plant.

I'd cut your Pieris back Merlin, water like mad and it might revive.

If it's not in acid soil it's yellowing because it's deficient and if you've not renewed its soil for a few years it needs replacing.

My two remaining Trachlospurmun Jasminoidies and all my Pyracantha are doing the same, it's like Autumn !!

My huge Pyracantha on the back of the house always seems to shed a lot of leaves at this time of the year Merlin, just as the new shoots are growing. Has yours got any new shoots?

Yes peony, but I've had to cut away about a third of the branches that were dead.

That does sound more serious Merlin, but I suppose while you have some new shoots there is still hope it may recover.

I really worry that we'll get more severe winters
