An article in AG got me thinking about GH shading, I've never bothered, well not for years and seem to manage though I've noticed that after the first salad crops the standard drops. My glass is 26yrs old and dirty so maybe that shades it a bit. I'd be interested to know what you do.

Arh, I remember now. An excellent idea as not only does it do the trick but it's easy to pull back n' to. If I do use shading I'll pinch your idea (no charge I hope) What I would like to know is just what problems occur without shading. do plants scorch or just under perform?

I have a lot of small ferns in the greenhouse grown from spores that dislike full sun, I'm sure there are others that like a bit of shading too I tend to use algae a bit like you as well on one side ...until I get around to washing it off

The plants would like the heat, not full sun magnified through glass. Isn't your grape doing the job? If not, in fact anyone growing a grape should watch the last Beechgrove Garden on i-player and they will be in no doubt about pruning.

You'd get it from any garden shop or GC Joysie and it is just threaded on a line like a curtain

Makes mine look miniscule Lesley I did try the cool glass / Varishade stuff years ago and it works fine, bit of a bind putting it on and cleaning it off though unless they have improved the product? especially with our intermittent sunny day cloudy day weeks
