This shady corner is nice to sit when hot but it lacks interest (except when I'm sitting there) I was wondering whether to make a large immitation stone sink and have an old (or looks old) water pump that would drip into the sink. Any ideas where I could find a pump......cheap! I could make it look old

You can get very realistic looking plastic ones which are relatively cheep. I picked an old, metal one up from a farm auction for a few quid. I would be tempted to make something 'arty' to go on the fence. You have a lot going on at floor level and then a lot of bare fence. This sort of thing

Do you belong to 'Freecycle', Merlin? You could ask if anyone has one they don't want.

No I don't belong to 'Freecycle' though I think it a good thing. I like your' arty' fence WF. Yesterday I went for a nosey at our local monthly farm / general auction. There's usually everything there including the 'kitchen sink'. Loads of belfast sinks and a genuine old water pump. They wanted £50 for the pump so I came home and had a re-think. I've moved a birdhouse into the corner and replaced a Parthenocis which was yet another victim of last winter. As for the sound of gurgling water, I've made a 'waterfall' the other side of the fence. It makes it so much easier to get access to my new Blueberry bush too.

When it rains it will flow but it's been so so dry and the stream is dried up, good time to do the job. I did use the hosepipe to test it and it was a grand gurgle In a shady nook By a babbling brook.......can't remember the rest.

That urn is very special - what's growing in it, Merlin? I do agree about the sound of water. It's soothing!

I'd have to "knock something up" at those prices! Oddly I saw something like the 'Ben Nevis' one at the auction £30 only it was an imitation tree stump with lights. I suppose I could hollow out an ordinary English tree branch rather than bamboo but then I would have to either buy solar or run cable. I'll wait until it rains and see if my waterfall works.
