Any weather related problems you have are just the same as the others. Makes it a level playing field.

Not altogether true. Because people come from all over the country to exhibit, storms in one area can be missed altogether in another. And of course vice versa. So if gods reading this forum, it can rain where you like except shropshire

You are right of course, I was thinking of more local shows. Mind you, the way this 'Summer' has been so far..........

well it's bucketing down at the moment. When growing new varieties it's a bit hit and miss. Now i don't know whether it is me, or if it's the varieties, but my stems are nowhere near as long as they normally are at this time of year. Do you reckon the very cold weather last november may have had an influence on this years blooms? Or maybe the very hot April?

I doubt it scrumpy. had much much colder times past with no adverse affect. Now the dry spell - a different matter but that should have righted itself by now I would have thought. If it is affecting ALL the plants then it rules out the variety and would indicate either a cultural problem or a deficiency of some sort. Scratching my head here, sorry.

I'm sure you are right.....probably cultural. Anyway, cut enough sweet peas for 5 vases of 6 stems. Sir Jimmy Shand will be my best ones. Hope they look better when arranged

Strange isn't it? I grew Sir jimmy Shand when it came out a couple of years or so back and it failed miserably for me. Mind you years ago I nearly gave up on Mrs. Bernard Jones as it didn't do for me then after giving it one more chance it was winning all over the place for me. Same thing with Noel Sutton way back. Never figured out why.
