Recommend me a good solid brand that wont twist or snap when I'm digging out weeds, My second lot this year is just about on its way out SO what do you use? and how long has it lasted??

What a great question Floydie I have loads of forks and trowels....from posh stainless steel expensive ones, to bog standard cheapos ;D At the moment I am using solid metal cheapo ones from B&Q....they were £1 each and are brilliant ;D

I have a lot of sets because I used to teach gardening at a school, and the cheap ones are obviously cheap. They came as freebies with coupons. However, the general quality of the stainless steel ones is very good and only one unbranded one is bendy, so it is used to bury unmentionables from cats, dead mice, anything really. Have a look in Wilkinsons. If they are good enough for Tel, they would have to really do the work. I think in this store you are getting good quality at a fair price not 'you get what you pay for'.

The whole primary school Lou. I already had a C&G from Scotland. I would not leave the small garden tools with them because they were my own, and they went missing. Whenever students left there, they were often asked to buy garden tools or large patio planters as the leaving present.

The really cheap mild steel ones bend very easily and are only any good for compost scoops really, pay a little more and get stainless which are stronger and last much longer
I have some branded Ronson, are these same as your trial ones Tel? stainless and a few mill thicker than the norm these have hardwood handles and look like they will last forever

Never ever bought any. Only use what I have been given, usually cheapo ones but then I hardly ever feel the need for trowels and/or forks. I have a long narrow dandelion weeder, stainless steel and unbranded but cant remember where I got it. used regularly with good effect.
