I am pleased that yours are still coming Floydie. I think a feeding station for birds is essential for children to learn and get more pleasure from their gardens.

The OH has taken down the seed feeders now, they were been used less and less, we still have the fat balls up, but the main visitors now for them are the sparrows, the rest are leaving them alone now.

This must vary from area to area then, and from species to species because the birds here use the feeders all the year round - bringing their young too.
The types i get here are ..... Goldfinches Greenfinches Chaffinches (ground feeders i know, but they use the hanging feeders) Linnets Great Tits Blue Tits Coal Tits
I've not included the autumn and winter users.

it could be that rural areas supply plenty for them in the summer, whereas more built up areas birds need to rely on feeders?

Possibly - the fact that they'll go where it's easy ! Although .... with 2 large parks and a large wood all within spitting distance it couldn't get more easy, surely

We have lots of birds still coming (Including a pair of ring neck doves who pick up anything that falls to the floor). I didn't take much notice TBH as i said i switch off. I'll keep on feeding then while they are still flooding in ;D. (She already seams to think the rabbit and piggy are attracting vermin as she apparently saw something running about but when we looked nothing was there, Plus the dogs would have caught any mice. Gives her something else to moan about). PS I have a few Clematis now so the birds should love them later thanks Louise I'll leave some of the seed heads on when they finish.
