Oh i'd love to Merlin but this is just not the place to do it, this is a town garden, they're all small - measured in feet - and i don't feel it would be a responsible thing to have bees around an albeit small housing estate.
If i had Geraniums size garden or WFs i would have bees and chickens, ducks., the lot !

I think it was 'Countryfile' that said that bees have more pollen in urban areas that rural, your neighbours would like the bees to pollinate their fruit n' veg. My garden is an 'oasis' here, I'm still thinking of having bees but I need to be sure I'll be competent enough. I really like honey. What I need is for someone on the forum to be good at it then I could learn as I go along, I'm nervous about whether I'll do it properly, without supervision.

Carol Kleins husband did just this on one of her own programmes recently, remember ? They had a beekeeeper in to show and advise them how to do it properly and he came back on a couple of occasions to just checkup on them ...... i'd ring around beekeepers and farmers for names and do the same Merlin.

Before I trouble anyone I'd like to know how much time it takes and what to do if I went on hol, lol ! It's a good idea to look around locally though.

Where would you put this, and how big do you want it to be? I assume you're not going in for bee-keeping for real? ;D
(I'm imagining you in the full garb, helmet and all... ;D ;D)

If you installed a motion sensor in them, each time you pass by you could have a tape playing 'The flight of the bumblebee by Arthur Askey ;D

Someone who keeps bees would be more than happy to talk to you, I'm sure it would be a pleasure for them and not any trouble. People with passions love to share them.
