It is a lot better than the one I grew last year, it almost reached the grand size of a golf ball Are we doing the pumpkin challenge again this year?

Hello Claire Sorry to keep asking questions but which variety of pumpkin are they? Have they been in direct sun - I am thinking they could have been scorched if there were water droplets on the leaves. Apart from the affected leaves they look healthy. If the variety is a large one then it would be a good idea to pot them on into a 7" pot now and start to harden them off ready for planting outside in a couple of weeks time

I am thinking the same Esther it looks like water has been on the leaves and then been in the sun, if the newer leaves look healthy and good I wouldn't be too worried

Hello, Thank you for your advice. I have no idea what type they are because I got them out of last years pumkin lol They live in the kitchen at the moment, by the patio doors so get a good few hours of sun a day without getting a hammering in the wind. I was watering them from the base but they now live in tray's which I put water in and they take what they need from there. I have sprayed them with bug spray today to see if they have a bug I can't see. I have given them fish, blood and bone stuff because i read it somewhere so i can't see that they are starving of anything, But I don't know I have to be honest. This was ment to be a bit of fun but they are taking over my life ha ha They must be the hardest veg to find information on. Does anyone know when the tendrils start and where from on the plant? ? Plus should I be pinching out the smaller leaves that are growing to stop having loads of leaves OR??? Don't know if you can see them in this photo?

In the absence of most of our pumpkin growers being at Malvern Show today, I will give you my words of wisdom, which could be inferior, but the experts will be back tonight.
You don't need to feed them with blood and bone yet, because the potting compost is doing that for you. Esther thinks they should be potted up larger soon and she grows beauties for her grandchildren. I don't think you would pinch out. Probably, Esther or Steve would say to let two or three fruits form first.
I grow a few varieties because I love winter squash/pumpkin, so I am not the best person to advise about the Halloween types. Just keep asking if you are not getting the answers you need.

I haven't sown my seed yet. .....only grown them once before. Are you wanting a crop off your plants or are you going for a "biggie". Last year I let a couple "set" and then pinched out the growing shoot.....when the fruit had set properly....I selected the strongest one and pinched out the other.....It ended up about 12/14lbs can't remember the circumference. ....was joint first with our Streve in the Forum Competition. Are we going ahead with it this year then?..If so, you have a head start on some of us Clair
