This was the first arch I made years ago, it's stood up better than any plants I've put on it. I've tried loads of stuff, pyracantha Honysuckle, Clematis, roses and more. Some grew to big, others grew top heavy. Two yeas ago I planted a Jasmine either side with clematis. They got off to a good start last year but last winter has seen off one of them and severely knocked back the Tracky Jas behind it. The Jasmine 'Fiona' has got through the winter....just but the 'Officinale' hasn't. I'm at a loss as to what to cover it with. It's not big but right outside the back door and desperately needs covering. Help please!

Steve that's just the sort of 'blue sky' thinking I'm after, a great idea and not too late to sow. I read in google Telegraph about it but no mention of soil ph so I assume it will be ok. I'll go to a GC and look for seed. I can leave the dead wood of the Jasmine for support.

They will grow tall enough to cover your arch but they are not particularly bushy so you will need a few each side. It just so happens that I have four different blues/whites of Morning glory seed, would you like some?
I am going to cover my arch with annuals this year, we will have to compare notes.

If I can't find any Mina Lobata that Steve recommends, I would be grateful WF. I had some free Morning Gloryseed with a mag and have planted them out under rose obalisks. They've got going well so I don't want to disturb them. Actually I may have some left, I'll look later, it's pi****g down at the mo !

Lucky you, I could do with some rain. If you want some just give me a shout. I've sown mine and still have plenty.
