Many, many years ago when I used to design web sites I used to type key words into the header so they were picked up by the search engines. They were normally the same colour as the background so they couldn't be seen by the viewer but were visible to the search engine.
This was way back when HTML was the only tool, things have moved on dramatically since then and there must be a far more direct way of doing this (possibly tags?) I'm sure there is someone on here that is in the know.
When I was looking for a forum I typed 'garden forum' into the search bar. It would be good if this one turned up with the same search.
I'm afraid it's all well beyond me now and it could be that it no longer works like that.

Do we have an SEO in the house?

I think it depends on how many 'hits' the forum has as the where it shows up on the search engine, so the more the forum is looked for the higher up the list it goes, well that is what I've been told anyway

You can also pay to be at the top of the first page like Amazon and ebay but I still think you need the key words for the search engine to pick up.
Piskie, do you design web sites?

Admin support is correct I have been self-employed for the last ten years, working from home, getting paid to look after businesses - varying from an NHS Trust Manager, to Australian Migration, to US Training company, a couple of head-hunters, some Management Consultants and many others along the way. It's not a bad life at all - but I am in a decision-making mode time of 'do I want to do this for another ten years or go back to 'proper' work - assuming I would even get a job'

I love being able to pick and choose my hours but I do miss the buzz of working with other designers.
I couldn't go back to nine to five.

Presumably prospective new members would find us via a search engine now, wouldn't they? I know there are other gardening sites out there, but if people are looking at them all, it's up to them to decide where they think they'll 'fit'.

Did you sort the metta tags? Write anything that should be picked up by the search engines. I don't know if this site has this but i can switch to HTML mode if i want to alter bits myself in HTML Script.
