Well, I am shocked at the photos. What on earth (no pun intended!) has that compost got in it? It almost looks like a weedkiller of some sort. They should replace all your plants, floydie.

I got a bag of B&Q's peat free compost 2weeks or more ago and have been using it for potting on my seedlings etc and potting up new plants. Now everything i had growing in it is dead or dyeing including my Lily's (is now brown and black) and my Texas blue bonnet seedlings . Oh and also my canna Lilly (hadn't started growing but was firm when i potted it is now rotted) . Just a warning as I don't want everyone else to have the losses i have. I have more plants to try and save tomorrow but don't think many will survive . Oh and the compost i have removed from my containers stinks to high heaven! You know, i bought B&Q peat free compost and i thought it smellt funny so i have hardly used it, glad i didn't, thanks for the warning Floydie.

I hope not as i threw all that came out of the plant pots in the compost bin some plants have long gone so no chance of a pic of them. Think i better take out what i threw in the bin tomorrow . I did wonder if the compost hadn't rotted properly and has burned the roots before rotting my plants.

floydie that is such a shame, I hope you get some luck with B & Q. I've never used peat free compost.

I usually use Gnomebase peat free to mix in with my B&Q multi purpose and that is always pretty good.
Floydie, manybe you should contact their head office about it too, it may need withdrawing from sale.

I might have thought one of your plants needed more water or dry or something different, but this takes in a lot of varieties, all of which were planted very well.
B&Q compost was reputed to be one of the best in trials, but that could have been their ordinarly multi-purpose.

I water daily if its dry, this compost is as dry as a bone (or seams to be) By the next day, the only way to describe what is underneath the dry surface looks like and smells like sewage.

I rang the B&Q store i got it from, they were going to replace the compost and any B&Q plants but i wouldn't have it and had an argument with her (When i get in an argument on the phone i am not a nice person ). Anyway i told her it wasn't fair that i have lost/loosing plants that i have spent the 3 months looking after all because of the compost. She still wasn't going to replace them as she said she didn't have seedlings. I stated a few times that these would be the equivalent to there plug plants so have managed to get some bedding plants in replacement. So i have to take the compost bag to the store with the Lilly (I'm also taking the canna not a B&Q plant but it has rotted in the compost) and photos of the dead/dieing plants (I will take more later and make a list as I'm emptying the pots). I'm also taking the used compost in a plastic bag so they can see and smell how bad it is. She said she couldn't understand why as they haven't had other complaints but i told her it seams the compost hasn't rotted properly continued to rot in the pots and rot my plants along with it. Oh i also told her i couldn't find the receipt she tried it on, but i had called customer care before her who told me they can track the purchase as i paid by card.
