It is Leycesteria formosa, common name: Pheasant berry
It is a shrub but does self seed. The flowers are very pretty, the bees love them and the Blackbirds love the berries.

Betcha you'll find more seedlings around, Lou. I really don't like these shrubs, and disposed of three of them I inherited. It wasn't only the blackbirds that ate the berries! Henry used to help himself - 'pick your own'! ;D Anyway, five years on and I still find the odd seedling.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any, as well. Next door has one, but I don't think they'd help.
