Like Marmite, there are some plants that you either love, or hate. In my case, there are a few that spring to mind; I'd never grow those scarlet annual Salvias used in Council bedding schemes, or Celosias, or Bat-plants. I'm sure some people love them, though! However, I love green-flowered plants, although I know they are also a matter of personal taste. I think Hacquetia epicactis is beautiful - others won't share that opinion. How about you? Which plants would you ban from your garden?

Geranium - I love green flowered plants too! That Hacquetia is beautiful. I believe that the petals are really bracts, and that the true flower is the yellow bit in the middle. I've tried in the past to buy one but nobody seems to sell it round here. I don't have any "Marmite" plants though - there's nothing I really don't like. I admit to liking Bat Plants though as I also like "black" plants (either flowers or foliage).

I don't think i have any real dislikes......but then i do like Marmite! I have a bit of a thing for Penstemons but just love all plants and flowers and don't mind a mish-mash of colour either!! I did used to have a phobia of Geraniums(red) and ice plants but am over it now although the red geranium can on occasion make me wobble a bit ;D

I hate Ribes or flowering currants, awful plants and the smell is horrible.

PB - I got the Hacquetia at a rare plant fair last Easter - it was a plantsman's heaven there! I shall go again this year if there are any within travelling distance - Louise and I went to one together in September. It's great fun and very tempting, too. ;D

Thanks Geranium. There are rare plant fairs in this area from time to time - I must look out for the next one. Trouble is, I don't know if my bank balance will stand the strain!

That's a real problem, curbing yourself. I admit that - but on the other hand, having been to three of the fairs last year, some of the sellers are actually cheaper than GCs - and you can't get hold of the plants easily, either - it would have to be by mail order.
