Well 48 hours after changing to compost Perlite and sand it looks promising. Cuttings look happier and more perky.
Took my first 5 Weston pirate today, 4 more winholm Diane and 4 Mary's jomanda, 3 Ac Abby Plus some bedding one's and one's growing for friends like park princess. Excellent cuttings provider.
Still to take cuttings from Clearview Sundance, Hapet vinete, parkland rave and nenekazi also the bedding one's I got from Jack gott and mignon sunshine. many should be in about a week . The Jack gott one's only beed on heat a few days so hopefully in a couple of weeks.
Just need more candy, zoe and ursula really but lots on the way from candy and zoe. Ursula I think I should be ok the ones tonight hollow so stopped them and hopefully get side shoot cuttings.
Winholm Diane is a strange one Each pot Tuber throwing up very different types of cuttings. I have numbered all the multiple pot tubers so I can make sure I am matching the plants.

Was thinking of a cheap form of irrigation, have seen these soaker hoses and you can get, 50m for £30 but not sure they would be any good for the job?

Mark that is what Andrew aspital uses and recommends them. He got a cheap hose pipe from wilkos and drilled loads of little holes in it and made his own. I will use a soaker hose in front and back whether I do my own or buy ready done we shall see. Good luck with the season I know you will do great. You can also use the soaker hoses with water butts if your allotment does not have mains water.

Yes if you need too, a lesson I learned using them was, do not have the tap on full, in case it comes away from the tap.

Haha I'm quite lucky and on spring water, once filled my water butt and forgot about it until the morning where I'd made a swamp.

Me to (watering can) for all 600 plants that way you are looking at every plants instead of standing at the end of the row with an hose pipe or just turning the tap on you can assess all the plants whilst watering.

I put in my first-ever half-dozen dahlias on Wednesday. They’ve already started to take off!

They have slowed in terms of height, but are flowering well.

I take that back. There are some flowers, but also an ever-increasing amount of blackfly. I sprayed them as a precaution this morning, then noticed a few ants and took a closer look. Some were smothered in the little suckers. I then spent ten minutes squashing them. They’ll be back...
