Anyone any suggestions on what to about my cordyline which has been badly affected by the cold weather? The main trunk is 20' tall, the other two slightly shorter. The two shorter trunks look dead a the top and the leaves are gradually dropping off but the tallest trunk looks OK and also have several new shoots low down, which started growing last year.

Sorry folks, don't know what I did wrong but the photo hasn't posted properly. Will have to contact Steve again. He must be getting fed up with me asking questions!

My Cordyline is pretty much the same and I have seen many in this area the same, I suspect it is the same picture up and down the country, they are not totally hardy but we have got away with growing them for about 10 yrs now (much longer down south as the Torbay palm) but if normal harsh winters are to be the norm for a bit then this is what we will get! I have Cordyline, Phormium, Tree ferns, Wollemi pine and many others which have never seen these temps and so I have no idea what they will do until about April really

Check the bark on the trunk, if it is still firm you will be OK. I would leave them alone for now, when the weather picks up stand back and work out where you want the leaves to start growing from. Cut the trunks at this height and they will shoot from just below the cut.

Cut the trunks at this height and they will shoot from just below the cut. All three trunks are solid WF, so I'll do as you suggest and be patient.
