It was money well spent, and such a help this year when I woudn't be able to deal with all the holes. I hope the chafer grubs are all dead and gone - we don't want them back again!

I bought a brand new toaster at the car boot this weekend, it was still boxed and sealed. It did have Celtic rangers logo on the side of it but for £3 I could live with that. I did have to laugh when my toast popped up this morning though. ;D

I don't do footie, but if I pronounce it slightly differently it is quite acceptable. My toast is made by the Celts ;D

Here is something which is not so funny, my heart sinks every time we drive by it. This is a large piece of land which has been leveled and has planning permission for hundreds of new homes. It was leveled just over five years ago (just before the recession hit) and has been left untouched ever since. I'm not bothered about the houses, it is the poor people who will live there. Look at this ground, in five years not a weed has grown in it, one day that will be someones garden

I love your toast WLF ;D I wonder if the land was treated with sodium chlorate It seems very odd that nothing has grown there - as you say it is awful to think it may be someones garden eventually

Love the toaster, i wonder if they do one with dahlia on it. ;D That land for housing, it makes you wonder if it has been a dumping ground for chemicals.

The soil looks brown in my photograph, it is really just dirty clay. There is nothing growing in it because there in no goodness there at all. When they build the houses they will scatter a couple of inches of top soil over this lot and call them gardens.
I know it is possible to improve poor soil but I doubt if there is anything you could do if that was your garden. I'd be devastated if I moved into a house to find that was my soil.

Some serious weedkiller has been used there.

Some serious weedkiller has been used there. I wish that were true Cherry, this used to be a large pond and before that it was an open caste clay mine. It was filled with the excavated clay from another open caste mine. Nothing has grown on this gound since it was leveled.

isn't that just typical of builders, the give no thought to the people who are going to be living there, all they think of is the ££'s to be made, sling a bit of topsoil on and as long as it looks ok that's fine
