There was a Jubilee event up at the village school yesterday, with children dressed up, and a party for them on Monday. Nothing in our hamlet, though. It's too small!

We are having one for friends and family in the back garden Monday, but shhhh don't tell anyone ;D Not a "bring and share" Steve? I hate that name. I don't mind taking food. I always do for the church and W.I., but when it is given this name I cringe. Friends and family is definitely the best way. I am going to a plant sale at Downham Market on Monday. I have plants to donate and expect to buy some unusual plants for the right price.

Wonderful Esther. I am pleased that they are doing this for you, because I know that you would normally be doing most of it.
I wish my family was closer. Two boys in Scotland and two girls in Queensland and my stepson in Yorkshire puts them all around two nations. Never mind, I have started baking for some of them already.

Cherry I think historically Manchester & Salford have always been fairly anti-royal & the Queen rarely visits because it usually rains on her! ;D Someone has ripped down part of the bunting put up by the council but some of the shops look very festive & lots of the pubs are putting on family events. We've had to keep the back door & windows closed today because the pub down the road from us has been having a full day of live music blasting out, I know how the Queen will feel when they have that Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace this week! Are you posting cakes to Queensland & Scotland Cherry or having a family get together?

Well I knew you would not go empty handed, but that is quite a lot. You still had a pile of preparation dishes, but at least the main dishwash won't be your responsibility. Have a wonderful time Esther.

Are you posting cakes to Queensland & Scotland Cherry or having a family get together? I am the royalist in the family, although the younger generation all approve of the royals. It seems daft when I am Australian, but my grandmother saw to this. She was actually completely Australian but married to a Pom, you know, the one from Bury. I am not too keen on loads of bunting though. I do remember the Duke passing one of his remarks about Manchester and this could have a bearing on the way they think. I have just re-read your message and now realize what I said. My baking has gone into the freezer. The youngest son and his girlfriend are coming next week. I have been making all sorts of things, but I do rely on the freezer a lot because I am very slow at cooking these days. Old age is something you do not suffer from yet Sue.

I don't know about 'old age' Cherry as I couldn't keep up with you or Esther on the baking/entertaining front! ;D Have spent most of the afternoon watching the poor Queen standing in the wind & rain watching a load of noisy drenched people on boats going past her! The only time her face lit up was when she spotted the 'War Horse' puppet on the theatre roof - it looked so real & she looked very impressed!

The pageant was very unusual, but good. The Duke of Edinburgh was in his element. The Queen stood for hours which did take the smile off her face for the last hour. I don't think I could have stood all that time. However, I think she was interested and enjoyed the spectacle. It was just far too long.
