That must have been so scary J, and your poor cat If you go anywhere near the moors up here there are always signs warning you that adders are about

We've cancelled most of the school trips -- we used to have kids going around the farm to learn about animals and plants, don't want any accidents. The Wildlife people have been here to drop off traps and a reminder to call them if we catch any snakes and to collect the fine for killing one We did catch a few snakes, one trap left in the mango orchard had 3 juvenile pythons in it but no ulupongs thankfully, I hope it means we only had 1 around our place and it's already dead.

What happens to the pythons jrae, do they get released as they're not venomous?

That must be a relief for you J, it would be scary to think more of those snakes could be lurking about. I wonder if any of the pythons were called Monty...Sorry bad joke

Well Sue the wildlife bureau said they'd come back for the traps a week after, I'm assuming they'd be taking the snakes with them as well. I did have someone drop some field rats we've caught in our own traps into the ones that had snakes don't want them starving even if they're creepy. My son is actually very fascinated with the snakes Rosie, I told him to quit trying to give them names. He's been on the phone asking at the local vet what kind of snakes can be kept as pets. My husband told him early on that snakes are permanently banned from the house.

I do quite like snakes, lizards & tarantulas jrae & did fancy a snake or spider as a pet when I was young but decided I couldn't face having to feed other creatures to them & I'd stick to looking at them zooz etc.! I'd be very wary if I saw a poisonous snake in the wild though.

It was fashionable for children in Victoria to keep a blue tongue lizard and feed it on tomatoes, so that they did tomato poohs. My son had to admire next door's though because I did not like them.
