A bit late in reading this thread, but ...
Enjoy Christmas in Scotland Cherry , and have a safe journey there and back
Hoping you and family will all enjoy your time together grindle
Our garden bin collection ended in November seaburn and will resume in March. Maybe I will have put some stuff in it by then if we get favourable weather.
I've put some decorations up this year - for the first time since B died I have felt like doing it. I haven't got a tree though. As for traditions there are none now, but in my childhood days my dad's mother always came for Christmas Day. Boxing Day was my mother's birthday so we went to her parents then, and it was like another Christmas Day because that was when we exchanged gifts with them (Santa had always left something there for me ) Boxing Day was also my grandparents' wedding anniversary, and although they never spoke of it I think a lot of the celebrating they did was because of that, as well as my mother's birthday. My mother used to say although they never spoke of their anniversary, they used her birthday as an excuse for celebrating it
In Beryl's days when her mother was alive, we went to her brother's house on Christmas afternoon, and to my parents on Boxing Day for my mother's birthday.
About your linen cupboard, I can't answer your question, but personally I find it impossible to be organised. You must be left-brained

Lots of fond memories Eli. Some decorations were a step forward. We had a sorry tale of ‘flu for my son and wife, her daughter and partner and myself, and Fiona’s granddaughter had scarlet fever. We went to a holiday house in Ballintore, (not young granddaughter) but were all too ill to eat or drink. Glad to get back to Elgin. We left Ballintore in snow, and now it is icy.

Sorry to hear that you were all so ill Cherry, so many people have been recently & it's strange that Scarlet fever seems to be making a comeback - I believe my mum's twin sister died of that when they both caught it as tiny children way back around 1918. Hope you managed to enjoy some of your time together despite the illnesses, I had flu as well just before Christmas & stil have a bit of a cough & sis-in-law had a really bad cold but O.H. seems to have escaped everything so far.

We had a grand day out to quote Wallace and Gromit. Hubby and I took advantage of the inititive of a max of £2 per person per trip on the busses. Apparently it is country wide. So we hopped on the York express from Beverley and arrived about 50 mins later in York. Had a stress free shop, fish and chips in Drakes chippy and a gentle wander around the various areas in York. We usually drive in [45miles each way]and do P&R: but for £8.00 return it was much cheaper overall. P&R is usually £2.80 each Plan to go to Scarborough next week if the weather is decent.
Have any of you used the scheme yet?

sounds like a lovely day out seaburn not heard of the scheme here, although I doubt we could use it as OH's mobility isn't that great now

I've not heard of that bus scheme either seaburn, it sounds like a bargain, I haven't been on a bus for years & years but that's a good idea.

I've never heard of the scheme, maybe it's only in England. I'm glad you had a nice day.
I often go on a bus, (don't like driving places on my own since B died) but the bus coming through this village only goes to the nearest town 3 miles away, so I drive there and then catch a bus. You can get one to Carmarthen Llanelli or Swansea but that's all.
I went to Carmarthen today, but it takes over an hour, even though Carmarthen is only 20 miles away, because the bus goes on a meandering route around lots of dreary villages and it can be a bit tedious. The same to Llanelli, and that's such a miserable place anyway I don't go often. Swansea is a big sprawling city and I don't really like it. I only go there to get laver bread in the market or to take flowers to B's grave, and that means catching another bus from the city centre to where the cemetery is.
They could do a lot to improve public transport, but so few people use it I don't think they'll bother.
