Springwatch is on this week - the first episode was this evening. On their website they have webcams on a heron nest, a buzzard, an oyster catcher amd a barn owl. I have just been watching the one on the barn owls and you can see bats flying around in the barn as well. Fascinating stuff.

I watched it last night, the woodpeckers were great.
The owner of the feather surprised me, I didn't think Red Kites were that large.

I could sit here all day watching those The Redstart nest is a bit sad though, there are 2 at the bottom of the pile that weren't being fed and the other 3 are ontop of them and constantly fidgeting - that can't be comfortable, i bet the 2 bottom ones don't do well

The first Redstart has just fledged - I missed it by 6 minutes! Will have to watch now to see if another one goes soon. They now have a camera on a pied flycatcher nest. Some are hatched already.

You can see the little redstarts want to go but they just don't have the nerve yet, it's almost painful to watch

Only 1 in there for a while now, i've been wondering if this is the little one that always seemed to be 'served last' at mealtimes It's been 1 hour 50 minutes since the adults last brought food to the nest .... this little ones next feed seems a long way away It's been calling for food for ages now 8.44am ..... just been fed ! The parents know that this one's still not ready maybe ?

I was watching the barn owls last night, there is such a difference in their sizes and the biggest one always seems to be sitting on the smallest one Mum (or Dad) was there last night getting his/her feathers sorted before flying off to fetch food. But I didn't see any food arriving
