I would be careful of watering too......water from the bottom.....the stem is prone to rotting ....they are prone to mildew as well......

I know i am sad but when i hear F1 cucumber, i have a vision in my head of a cucumber shaped racing car whizzing round Monaco or Silverstone ;D ;D

So it could be too dry, too wet, the stem might rot, it could get mildew and it could take off around Silverstone if it is healthy enough. Gee we are a clever lot.

Has anyone tried what Toby Buckland said last year, just cut half a cucumber off the plant and leave the rest to grow? I wondered if it would work

yes Cherry, it was for people that really didn't want to pick the whole cucumber, so he just cut half off and said the rest would be fine left on the plant until it was needed, I can't remember them going back to it to see the results
