It was a surprise, because I did not know what to expect. Would this one be useful for exhibiting?

Tel, Mary Evelyn is very eye catching. Mrs. Molecatcher was having a look around my garden today and she loved it. I have this one....can't make up my mind whether I prefer her or Hootenanny.... ;D

must admit, i've given up on the collarettes. Couldn't cope with the huge numbers of wasps, bees and hoverflies that swamped them morning to dusk.

Called down to the allotment yesterday morning, thought i would water the dahlias. With having other things to do down there, i just left the hose pipe running among the dahlias, set off home about 11 sat watching the TV about 9.30 last night when i remembered i did not turn the hose pipe off. The dahlia Ruby will be well watered now, its a good job the soil drains well or they would need a life jacket.

Hi everyone, fascinating reading (Im playing catchup here), love the photos (Scrumpy you need open up a shop!). Ive competed at two shows thus far, few red cards but no Best In Shows yet. Dahlias a week or two behind I would say. Tomorrow/Sunday?monday competing at my Countys main show. Among others will be taking Trelyns,Scaur Sunset,Hillcrest Candy,Barbarry Pip,Weston Pirate,Weston Buccaneer,Weston Miss, etc. The Hillcrest Candy is the new big news in msc, I find the blooms lovely depth and up to size at 6up, but they look somewhat 'wishy washy' so Im going to try them in a different plot next year. The Barbarry Pip, 3rd year growing, superb bloom, got them to size this year on a one stopper and 10up, but no matter what I do I cant stop them getting chewed!!!! So next year Im having to drop Pip, and will put the Marston Suzanne under cover (grown this year 18up and its right up to ring size. Also for next year Im thinking of buying Dikara Superb. Well done on show success there Lou Paul

Thanks Paul. Good to see you again....thought you had emigrated. Had great problems getting enough blooms to put on a show last week....but today!!!......there's masses of them....how contrary is that ....if only the show had been 3 days later.. I had hoped to have a vase of "Pirate", but only had 2 half opened blooms on the day Quite a few Westons have now flowered at all as yet...it will be interesting to see if I get tubers from them. What do you think of Weston Miss?....mine look very ordinary and the petals look a bit thick for a cactus Hope you do well at the County Show ;D ;D

Only 3 entries for tomorrow, a vase of poms, a vase of Min Decs and a mixed vase of small decs. That is good really, it shows they are not flowering too early. There should be enough out to defend the Bradford Championship next weekend though.

Going to pop down to the allotment, to see if there is anything else worth cutting before i set off to the show. Staging this morning from 9am. I cannot find my Miniature dahlia ring, i was using it the other day, looked all over for it, no sign of it.
