So it's official, we're all Badger lovers, well 63% of us anyway. The BBC sponsored an opinion poll and even in rural areas the numbers were the same.

Not in this area, they're not! Louise is right - the farmer next door had the side of their wooden duck house ripped off, and the badgers had a tasty meal - the survivors were gobbled up by foxes. They seem to go for worms and chafer grubs in my lawns, also they ate every tulip and crocus bulb in the beds and containers in the winter of 2009/10. Our electric fence is not keeping them out any more. I am flummoxed.

So do I, Merlin. It's awful looking out at a ploughed field.

There is a letter in the latest RHS magazine 'The Garden' about discouraging badgers - '..... for 20 years I have successfully kept badgers out of my garden. A radio on a timer comes on at 10pm and goes off again at 5am - it never fails to work. Choose a talkative channel as human voices will send badgers scurrying back to the fields and woods.' I assume he has no close neighbours ;D

Hmmm...what do you do in pouring wet weather? A radio would probably blow up!
