.....will it take for my Magnolia to buck up? I bought it on 'special offer' £10 in April and it's still not growing much. I re-visited the GC where I bought it and they had several more that were just the same, and asking £40 ! Come to think of it, the 'M. Sunrise I bought from T&M is still a twig! Is it normal for Magnolias to be so late in leaf? my Leonard Jessel and Stelarta are covered in leaf after flowering well. It's about 4' tall and this is the top.

I was going to ask the same about the Betty i got from T&M it just looks like a dead twig to me while the sunrise is looking like the one above.

I wonder, do T&M have a 'questions' site ?

I think you just have to email them.

I think you just have to email them. Obvious I suppose but I'll give it a try, I'm sure they'll reassure us that it's just too early and that it's 'normal'

I suppose you're right but it is taking a while. Anyway I've asked my regular mag. You can get paid for published questions and I've read dafter ones ;D

They very kindly replied as follows......
Thank you for your recent email.
Magnolias can take 4-5 weeks to produce any signs of top growth as they prefer to establish their root system prior to any new shoots.
I would advise to ensure the Magnolia is well watered and you will begin to see signs of new growth in the coming weeks.
If there is anything further I can do to be of assistance, please get in touch. I'll be happy to help.
With best regards,
Abby Mills Customer Service Team

The very end of May Floydie so I suppose a fortnight isn't long. The one I was more worried about has been in since April but I'm hopeful now.

I've spotted two microscopic little green blobs on the lower stem. Room for some optimism I suppose.

Ive just seen a tiny blob right at the base the main stems dont seam to be doing much . Are the T&M trees grafted??? as the stem looks alittle miss matched to me .
