re pets eating plants. We used to have a big schefflera plant in the porch and our guinea pigs which had the run of the house would manage to scale the large pot and eat all the lower leaves. Funny thing too, the cats never bothered either the guinea pigs or the hamster. as for humans and plants, my dad used to always have either some grass stems or bit of privet in his mouth when he was in the garden. probably other stuff as well. I often have a long stem of grass in my mouth My father did the same.

I should apologise for going off on a total tangent on this post about the cats But I've only bought primroses lately, to chirk up my pots, and 2 packs of clearance autumn bulbs from the local country store. £1 each for a pack of narcissi, and some mixed fringed tulips, which i've never tried before. I can never decide if I like that 'toothy' look around the tulip petals enough to buy a new pack, so now's my chance to try them on the cheap lol!

Don't worry about it Bess . Conversations do tend to meander from one subject to another.

I got a bit carried away yesterday as well, we went to the Potato Day & Treacle Market (unfortunately not a market selling treacle, lots of interesting stalls though!) at Macclesfield & I got 5 nets of seed potatoes, Vivaldi, Bonnie, Jazzy, Winston & Violetta (purple) all between £2-£3 & a pack of Golden Gourmet shallot sets.

I like those buckets grindle , will have to check if I pass a Poundland, I think KC used to use those as well. I got another peony in the post yesterday 'Eden's Perfume' from T&M, I'd forgotten about that, will have to find somewhere to plant it now!

We don't have a local Poundland either but we do sometimes see them when we're out & about, we have a store called something like 'Pound & more' near us which just means 'cheap' really! I couldn't get your link to work Bess for the blue & red radishes so looked them up & they do look interesting, wonder if they taste the same as 'normal' radishes, try this link:- Blue moon & red moon radish

Thanks grindle, they're all fairly near although not many in places we go to often, I'll have to look out next time we go to the Arndale in town.
