Being rural does have its disadvantages. No bargains to be had when there aren't any shops!

My problem is that it's a 20 mile round trip to B&Q, so I miss all the bargains - same applies to Lidl. Same here, annoying thing is I went past it on Sunday

I didn't get around to any tulip planting in the Autumn - do you reckon I could still get away it - assuming I can find any for sale that is? I bought some packets of 40 for £1 from my GC, can't go wrong at that price. They were firm so even if they're late flowering I recon they'll be ok.

There are some good bargains listed there. Candyblue will be very busy. The plants in the local garden centre/farm shop looked worse than mine and none of them were reduced. I get sick of them. I might try a better one which is five miles away. I have to get a pressie, so that is my excuse.

Popped into Focus today, bought 13 pkts of Crocus 10p each. Some paint and sowing compost. Last summer I was looking at a submersible pump. Glad I didn't buy it as today I bought a Karcher half price.

That pump looks like it will shift a lot of water, what are you going to use it for? We have one which looks similar, we use it to shift water after a flood, it emptied the pond in half a day (a hose pipe takes two days to fill it).

I have two ponds, one overflows into the other but years ago the pump failed. this one will do the job though as you say it would shift a lot of water!. Also I will use it to empty the ponds to clean. During the severe frosts my septic tank pump froze up causing the motor to short so it will also do for that.

A very good buy merlin I did pick up another Sarracenia today, it was discounted by 75%. They say they can withstand temperatures as low as -20. I bought it for the pond, there is plenty of room now it has been relined.

The best thing is I got two of the packs, so lots of aliums. It was a bit of a risk as you couldnt see what condition the buklbs were in as they were in a paper bag, but they were all fine! Not sure what garden centre it is think it may be a Town & Country one
