On the terribly windy Sunday, I walked to the nearest garden centre, and ordered some compost and a Dutch hoe to be delivered. Walking is the last rehabilitation I need and then I will be fine. I had my 2 boys, one in Scotland, monitoring me because there have been no taxis since Covid. I felt better for the walk and must persevere. The Dutch hoe will mean I won’t need to kneel so much. I put out the containers in the front using a pot stand with wheels. Still waiting on bees for my quince.

Nothing, too cold to be bothered.

spent 3 hrs in the back garden de-buttercupping the 'conifer' bed. Only did about 1/3 of it before it started to rain. 2hrs pricking out & potting on in the greenhouse. So soil under my nails was welcome.

At long last the warm day with little wind arrived! So I got down the hanging baskets, emptied them out & found the few Begonia tubers that survived the winter on the balcony. I potted up about half a dozen or so & have another 4 or 5 to pot up tomorrow. A few had dried out completely & 1 was rotten.
I divided a pot of variegated Geraniums & put each half in a pot of its own. I discovered a Fuchsia in the mini-greenhouse, I thought was dead, just beginning to sprout, so gave it a good soaking. Hopefully now it will start growing again.
It will probably be at least another month before I plant up the hanging baskets again.

I only did some watering - again! With the strong winds of late & our street being the windiest in this town the pots, especially the Primroses on the balcony railings, dry out very quickly & so I'm watering almost as often as during the summer!

Sowed some cosmos seeds, potted on 4 mini cucumber plants from their seed tray & planted up 24 little assorted pelargonium plants which came from a T&M special offer.

made a start clearing the patio, emptied all the 'dead' pots and swept, empty containers full of water were tidied and moved to the top of the garden

Nothing yesterday as once again I was out for most of it..... but this weekend I refuse to set foot out anywhere apart from in our garden, a whole weekend of gardening is firmly on my agenda...it will be utterly blissful.

planted out some cabbages and the broad beans. The runners have germinated in the greenhouse and they will be grown in pots.
