What a shame, @hywel - I mean about not knowing the name. It's a lovely reminder of your father. I can see it's a tall variety, and such a great colour! I was looking online at the National Collection of Asters, and there are so many I'd love to have, if I had room for them.

I was looking online at the National Collection of Asters, and there are so many I'd love to have, if I had room for them. It's also a shame my dad didn't look after the flowers better. I used to do a bit, but a little child can't do a lot. In the end, when I was a teenager, dad told me "You can have the garden. You'll look after it better than I can" ... and I did lol.
I've bought a new Michaelmas Daisy this year - a short one with pale blue flowers, but it hasn't bloomed. I think I can see small buds forming on it, but they may be too late, and I am rather disappointed. I'll look up the name of it tomorrow.
I can understand you wanting more Asters. They are rather majestic flowers.

I'd love two called after the breeder's family - 'Marie Ballard' and 'Helen Ballard', @hywel. Maybe one day. Here's a nice surprise for me - one of my delphiniums has flowered again.

Some of mine are flowering again too Geranium; I've cut a few down though as they are well mildewed !!

I think this is the first time I've had such a perfect one with three stems, Lou78W. No mildew, either! It must be the mild weather we've been getting.

@hywel, does your pretty Clematis always flower very late in the year? I'm wondering if it's C. clarkeana. Is it evergreen?

It is a pretty Clematis @hywel and so fresh it must be a proper autumn/winter flowering variety and not just one with extended flowering from a late season. Lovely colour all over the garden.

Geranium & Cherry I think I've found the name of my clematis. I think it's C. versicolor, from descriptions and photos that I've seen. The leaves also 'match' ... (I could be wrong ...) It has a mauve tinge when it first opens but becomes paler after a while. I bought it in Pound World, and it was labelled 'Climbing Shrub' Here are some more photos. Lou78W your garden is beautiful and the dahlias are really pretty varieties, especially Ruby.
